Little Bit Country Mitts

Hi Friends,

This weather calls for mittens and I have a new pattern today :) I have some Herrschners vintage winter white 2ply  yarn and thought if I double it up I can use for my Little Bit of Country Mitts :) Winter white  mittens are stylish and go with any colour. The mitts are accented with black sparkle yarn. The cuffs are folded over and I added  tiny black country look heart buttons on  the corners :)

Little Bit  Country Mitts are done on a 5mm crochet hook. The mitts are started with the cuff. I knew I wanted a fold over cuff so I made a rib without joining, for a few rounds. Once I had enough to fold over I joined the ends and continued until the cuff  was 2 inches long.

I thought I would use an accent colour so I have Caron Soft Party black sparkle. It is just a touch of sparkle. I did a reverse single crochet around the mitten cuff. I went back to the main colour and crochet a few rounds then made a space for the thumb :)

A Touch of Country Mitts

I did two more rounds,  then did another contrast row of reverse single crochets . I worked the crochet for a few more rounds then decreased for fingers :)

I attached the yarn to the thumb space and crocheted up the thumb. One  Little Bit  Country Mitts done. I made the other one to match then all I had to do was finish off the cuffs.

I knew I wanted some more black yarn. I starting at the open side & I reversed single crochet all the way around, ending where the two open sides meet, I folded the cuff for about two rows and sewed small black “country” hearts buttons in the corners on both side of the mitts :)

Touch Of Country Mitts

I think they turned out cute. I would make the pattern again, even making longer versions of the cuffs and more variations of buttons :)
