Adorable Knot Baby

Hi Friends,

I few months ago ,I found some amazing friends at my local yarn store, Stitch-It central. The two friends were telling me about Ravelry. I went on and I am hooked. What a great site!!  I came across this cute pattern &  I think it is so adorable I had to try it :) The little doll brings a smile on faces instantly. It is a great baby gift :)

This is a free download and can be done in any yarn, you just have to adjust the needles. The small one would be fingering yarn and obviously the thicker the yarn the bigger the doll:) It is called Knubbelchen :) I looked up the German meaning and it is “little knob”  😉

I downloaded the pattern and I decided to use a ball of baby dk,since I had lots in my stash:) The pattern calls for double pointed needles. I knew I was going to try a new method my friend, Anita, showed me who is the sock queen :) I used 2 circular needles instead of the 4 double pointed:)

I decided to call my attempt at this pattern   Adorable Knot Baby

I used 3mm old ones ,kinda too long but all I had :) So let me tell you, I thought what have a done ? lol.It took a bit of getting used to it ,but wow I love it now :) So this was a test one and will make more now lol

The pattern starts at the head and is the only part you stuff at the end :) I used a bit  of baby sparkle yarn for the head.It is all knit in stocking stitch so easy right?

Once the Adorable Knot Baby head done you change to the main colour and work through the increases as shown in the pattern for the shoulders and top of the arms..

You set the arm stitches on stitch holders and make the body then do the same with the legs.

To finish the arms of the  Adorable Knot Baby you put the stitches back on the needles and knit each one separately and cast off.

You knit the little stocking hat ,you can do it a different colour if you like.

To make up the Slightly roll up edge of hat. Pull hat onto back of head, making sure seams end up at the sides. Sew hat to head a short distance from the edge so edge stays rolled. Fasten rolled brim with a few stitches.  you put small knots on the ends of the arms and legs. I found it easier to leave the cast off ends on to  help pull the end through the knots then sew the ends in after:)

From the WS (inside), pull a doubled up piece of yarn from the center back at the color change through as shown, pull neck tight and knot on inside. Stuff head with filling, pull top of head closed and sew shut. (This spot will be covered by the hat. )

Slightly roll up edge of hat. Pull hat onto back of head, making sure seams end up at the sides. Sew hat to head a short distance from the edge so edge stays rolled. Fasten rolled brim with a few stitches:)

You can embroider a face on the Adorable Knot Baby if you like:)

What an adorable little toy. It makes you SMILE !!

I hope you liked this little post. I had fun with it and when I showed it to my Knitting friends  they all want to make one of their own :)

Have a great day!!
