Pretty Soap Covers

Hi Friends,

Sometimes we need a little gift for hostesses, showers, birthdays or stocking stuffers. Pretty Soap Covers  just worked great !! You can get so many fancy soaps and scents and a quick  little sleeve can add to the look :)

I have been making socks lately & I learned to make the toes with a magic loop cast on. I realised that a soap cover done with no seams seemed very practical. Most knitters & crocheters hate sewing in ends :)

I decided to make my own pattern and I really enjoyed the process.

I used Bernat Handicrafter Cotton in Hyacinth Swirl and one in lemon. I used two 4.5 circular needles . I love this method and here it is :)

I cast on doing the magic cast on. I made the Pretty Soap Covers  pattern on thirty stitches :)

I knit four rounds on the two needles. I then did a round of eyelets by knitting two together & yarn overs.

I did four more rounds of knitting then I did a purl round.

The next row I did a round of double wrapped stitches then a purl row dropping the excess wraps as I knit. This makes a long stitch and kind of a lacy look :)

I did four rounds of knit ,a purl round  and the fancy row again. One more purl round.

I worked  more rounds of knit and the eyelets again.

I cast off using a stretchy cast off that including yarn overs . This cast off is a bit  lacy also :)

I made a cord long enough to thread through the top row of eyelets & tied it in a bow, which finishes off the Pretty Soap Covers

The more I worked on these I thought of all kinds of uses for such a cute sleeve, cell phones, jewellery, kleenex, earplugs & ipod, chocolates etc.
